MLS All-Stars are gearing up to face the cream of Europe when they face Champions League winners Real Madrid on Wednesday.

The best of the US were out in force on the practice field on Monday, with the likes of Kaka, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Tim Howard among them.

The teams will meet at Soldier Field in Chcago, the home of Chicago Fire, whose fans will be delighted to see Schweinsteiger making the cut after his first season in Illinois.

LA Galaxy defender was part of the MLS All-Stars who lost 2-1 to Arsenal last year, and the Belgian insists the players are keen to make their mark against the La Liga champions.

‘It’s an exhibition, but these kinds of games, you can’t turn off,’ the defender said.

‘This is one of the best teams in the world, so you don’t want to get embarrassed. We have to stay focused and be sharp.’

While Orlando City’s Kaka is set to face his former club, there are plenty of other faces in the MLS squad that will be familiar to Premier League fans.

Former Sunderland striker and Toronto FC frontman Jozy Altidore has made the squad, as has former Tottenham and Ipswich man Giovani Dos Santos and one-time Aston Villa midfielder Michael Bradley.

There is also space for former Spain international David Villa, and former Juventus striker Sebastian Giovinco, while 35-year-old DaMarcus Beasley is set to make his fifth All-Star appearance.

The match will signal the end of Real Madrid’s US tour before flying back home ahead of their UEFA Super Cup clash with Manchester United.

The Champions League winners meet the Europa League champions on August 8 in Skopje, Macedonia.
